I Think it is Time for Another Major Casting Comp!

I am ready to have more than just one major casting comp here in the States. So to get this done I will need the help of all those interested in help competing donating money or time. I want any ideas that all of you might have.

I have found a location that can house 140 people on site and other places to stay are close by. It has on site bathrooms and insurance is covered. a large on site kitchen and eating area are there and tons of casting room. I would like to have demos and vendors selling things, but more than that I want to have a tough field of competitors to cast. There will be a 15′ and an 18′ event and good prizes.

Lastly I have booked the venue for the 4th, 5th, and 6th of April 2014… The week before SOR might as well be ready and the best way to prepare for a comp is to compete! I was also wanting feed back on the name, right now I am looking at “The Northwest Spey Casting Open”.

I want feed back from all interested parties and even those opposed to it, if there are some. As i know more I will post more. Hope to hear from you all.

Cool! While I’m not a competition caster, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve certainly reaped the benefit of those who are. Folks like James Chalmers, Lee Davidson etc. have helped design lines I couldn’t have imagined fifteen years ago. Go to!

I am kinda intrigued by Mia’s suggestion of a fishing division, but I have to ask how you would define “Northwest fishing?” Rods no longer than 13’6″, and heads no longer than 50 feet? The only reason I ask, is a fifteen foot rod and a Carron-75 is my go-to fishing rig 90% of the time…
